Farmington Police Department responds to fatal crash
Farmington, Minn., April 23, 2025 – On Tuesday, April 22 at 4:17 pm, officers with the Farmington Police Department responded to a serious injury crash at the intersection of 212th St. W. and Dushane Pkwy. in the City of Farmington.
Initial investigation suggests that a 2006 Ford Freestyle SUV was westbound on 212th St. W. turning south onto Dushane Pkwy. crossing into the path of a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle which was eastbound on 212th St. W. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the SUV.
Despite lifesaving measures, the driver of the motorcycle, Tyler Wrobel, 25, Farmington, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Wrobel was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the SUV, Earl Schlotman, 82, Farmington, was transported by Allina-ALF ground ambulance to Fairview Ridges Hospital with minor injuries. The front seat passenger of the SUV, Janice Schlotman, 82, Farmington, was transported by LifeLink III air ambulance to HCMC with more serious injuries. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
“This investigation is in the early stages, and we have made no determinations as to the cause of this tragic crash. I would ask the public to withhold speculation out of respect for both families involved in this incident. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Mr. Wrobel’s family, and we wish the Schlotmans a speedy recovery,” said Deputy Police Chief Nate Siem.
The Farmington Police Department would like to thank the Farmington Fire Department, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota State Patrol, Allina-ALF Ambulance, LifeLink III, and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office for their assistance at the scene and with this ongoing investigation. No additional information will be released at this time.
