Downtown Social UpdatesThe EDA has approved funding for Downtown Social for year two!
Downtown Social, a monthly gathering held every third Thursday, began as a grassroots effort by downtown businesses excited to showcase all that Farmington’s downtown has to offer. From unique shops and great dining to live music and welcoming community spaces, the first year delivered a lively and inviting experience for residents and visitors alike. Heading into its second year, event organizers are working with the Farmington EDA to explore opportunities to further support participating businesses. Laura Hanks and Jason Cooley of Main Street Salon and Apparel Co. presented a collaborative funding approach modeled after a microgrant, allowing the EDA to assist multiple downtown businesses at once. This investment helps strengthen the event, highlight our beautiful downtown, and continue building it into a true destination. The long-term vision is ambitious yet absolutely within reach: a fully established monthly event with a dedicated street closure, extended business hours, live music, and a safe, vibrant space for the community to gather and support locally owned establishments. Downtown Social returns in May and will now take place on the fourth Thursday of each month. We look forward to another great season of connection, community, and celebration in downtown Farmington!
