The Finance Department is responsible for the city's financial management, special assessments, utility billing, general accounting, and reporting all city finance transactions. This includes statutory responsibilities associated with the proper disbursement and auditing of all city funds.

The department works with the city administrator to prepare the annual budget and advises on matters pertaining to the financial condition of the organization and its obligations.

The Finance Department has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award for governmental accounting and financial reporting for nine consecutive years.
