New City Utility Bill Format

New City Utility Bill Format
New City Utility Bill FormatThe city has updated the format of the utility bill to more clearly show how the water and sewer portion of the bill is calculated. The current rate structure has been in place for several years and was previously calculated within the billing system and shown as a total amount on the bill. The new format breaks down the charges based on the city fee schedule.

The water fee is made up of two components, the base fee and a volume charge. The volume charged is based on the amount of gallons metered and uses a tiered structure to encourage water conservation as required by the state. For the water portion of the bill, the new format shows the base rate and amount billed at each tier.

Sewer fees are based on the lower of actual or winter quarter water usage. The fee is made of up of two components, the base fee and the volume charge. The base fee includes a set amount of volume (10,000 gallons for residential). Any volume used above the set amount is billed as a volume charge per 1,000 gallons. For the sewer portion of the bill, it shows the total number of units billed.
